Do you work on the ground floor of the former Doleschall Mansion monument building? József Lévay Museum Library is the library of the Reformed School of Miskolc founded around 1560. In addition to facilitating research, the library's task is to explore and preserve the collection's museum character.
There are more than 17,000 museum documents in the library's 42,000 volumes. The collection consists of nearly 1200 old Hungarian prints (published before 1800), 99 books printed in the 16th century and antiquities.
As a curiosity, the library's only form from 1488 and the Old Testament part of the Vizsoly Bible can be mentioned.
The valuable manuscript of the museum collection is the Miskolc Fragment from 1525, part of the Vitkovics Codex and a fragment of the Irish Aldhelm Codex from the 9th century. Here you can find the legacy of József Lévay, the eponym of the library, which also contains the library of the poet and part of his correspondence. The special collection of school bulletins consists of more than 4000 pieces. At least 600 different periodicals, different periodicals and yearbooks can be found here.
